San Jose Sharks Weigh Trade Options for No. 2 Pick

The San Jose Sharks hold the No. 2 overall pick in the NHL Draft, and general manager Mike Grier is open to trading it for the right offer.

What is the asking price for the No. 2 pick?

Grier said it would take a significant package to trade the pick, including a top-line forward or top-pairing defenseman still in their prime.

The Sharks have received interest from roughly five teams, including a couple of legitimate offers that they are considering.

Why are teams interested in the No. 2 pick?

Grier believes teams are interested in the pick because the Sharks are eager to take a step forward and make the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

The Sharks currently stand 11th in the Western Conference with a 39-35 record, on a W1 streak.

What are the options for the No. 2 pick?

If the Sharks keep the pick, they will choose between Swedish-born winger Ivar Stenberg and one of the top defensemen available, including Michigan-born Chase Reid.

Stenberg had an impressive season in the Swedish Hockey League, with 33 points in 43 games for Frolunda HC.

Reid, on the other hand, had 48 points in 45 games with the OHL's Soo Greyhounds and is considered one of the best defensemen available.

The Sharks are looking to add an elite player to their prospect pool, which is already considered one of the best in the NHL.

Grier expects conversations with interested teams to continue until the first round of the draft on Friday.

The Sharks are seeking a player who can make an immediate impact and be part of their lineup for a long time.
