The San Jose Sharks signed forward Brett Leason to a one-year, two-way contract, announced General Manager Mike Grier.
The Sharks signed Leason, 27, who primarily played in the American Hockey League last season with the Hershey Bears.
He recorded 44 points in 56 games, finishing fourth on Hershey in points and third in assists.
Leason's signing adds depth to the Sharks' roster, as they look to improve their standing in the Western Conference, currently 11th with a 39-35 record on a W1 streak.
He has played in 226 NHL games, scoring 54 points, and has also played in 170 career AHL contests, scoring 91 points.
The Sharks will look to integrate Leason into their lineup, as they aim to climb the standings in the Western Conference.
Leason was originally selected by Washington in the 2019 NHL Draft, and has represented Team Canada at the 2019 World Junior Championship.
He set career bests in goals, assists, and points in the 2018-19 season, helping Prince Albert win the WHL Championship.
The six-foot-five, 220-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, will look to make an impact with the Sharks.
